Dean Schuler started in the limousine industry in 1983. For many years, Dean worked virtually every job in the profession learning the trade from the ground up. In 1994, Dean Schuler and Edward Sakakeeny founded Signature Livery. Dean’s superior customer service skills and careful attention to detail otherwise known as “Signature Service”, had won the attention of local Destination Management Companies. Signature Livery had quickly earned a reputation as the local DMC Specialist. This reputation garnered the attention of Carey International. In 1996, just two short years after beginning his own service, Signature Livery was awarded the Carey license. After becoming the Carey licensee of New Orleans the business grew rapidly. Dean knew it was time to increase his staff. He began building a team of people he felt confident could further the reputation of Signature Livery/Carey New Orleans and that team remains in place today!
Dean was an advocate for limousine industry and maintained active industry involvement as a member of such organizations as the National Limousine Association, National Business Travel Association, Taxicab, Limousine Paratransit Association, New Orleans Convention & Visitors Bureau, Chamber of Commerce and various others. Dean served two terms as a Director of the National Limousine Association; served on the N.A.D.A. Limousine Advisory Board and was the Research Director of the Limousine Industry Council. He was passionate about sharing his knowledge and contributed to many Limousine Industry publications including a monthly article to Limousine Digest for over 20 years.
Dean Schuler has been called many things: icon, legend, passionate supporter, friend, mentor, honest, professional, meticulous researcher and pioneer. Dean may be gone but is not forgotten, his legacy will continue on through the contributions made here at Carey New Orleans as well as throughout the transportation industry.
